LAURA SOTOMAYOR, AIA

Architect, Senior Project Manager

From a young age, the joy of constructing dollhouses with blocks sparked Laura’s passion for architecture. Originally becoming a registered architect in Colombia in 2001, she moved to the US and successfully completed the Foreign Architect Path, achieving her registration in 2022. Her portfolio includes diverse projects spanning government, aviation, and commercial sectors, primarily located in Broward County. Her favorite project so far is the FLL Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, specifically the T1 bump out and terminal connectors.

Inspired by her family in Colombia, particularly the strong women who’ve taught her resilience and consistency, she aims to make a lasting impact. Laura’s long-term goal is to establish her own firm, focusing on projects that upgrade Florida communities. A key insight for aspiring architects is to remember that this profession allows you to leave a lasting mark on communities through enduring designs. She is particularly passionate about seeing her project designs come alive. Laura always strives to deliver the best results for those who’ll use the buildings. Let’s collaborate and create meaningful spaces together!
